Traveling Around The World With Solar Power

“Remember that happiness is a way of travel not a destination”
-Roy Goodman
Buying an RV is super smart because you can enjoy the amazing view. The windshield is large, allowing scenic surroundings to be much more visible as you drive.
If you are going on a camping trip in your RV, it means you want to still be able to have your comforts even in the wilderness you will need a different source of power. Where else to look but the sun! Utilize this renewable energy resource by getting the best solar generator for RV.
What do you need to know before buying your solar generator for RV?
A solar generator for RV is a very useful device because you have the technology within your reach, thanks to the arrival of the RV solar generator. Our products are designed to last longer and be easier to maintain than the competition. Featuring a plug and play concept, Cutting Edge Power premium solar generators are the perfect companion for off-grid installations at home, industrial use, commercial use, camping, tailgating, parties, events, construction job sites, etc.
What do I need for Wiring a Cutting Edge Power House Battery box?
Wiring a Cutting Edge Power House Battery box is super simple and you can do it by yourself. All you will need is a solar panel/panels and a deep cycle SLA battery/batteries but any 12V car battery will also work; some of our devices can also be used with 4S 12.8V lithium iron phosphate LiFePO4 batteries.
What type of panels to use? Flexible or Rigid.
You can use both, I've personally enjoyed taking our flexible ones camping, they're very easy to move around. These type of solar cells are extremely lightweight, and more of them can be installed in a larger space and not add additional weight, unlike your traditional poly-crystalline or mono-crystalline solar panels; and rigid solar panels are hard firmly fixed. They are constructed using glass panes within an aluminum frame.
Note: Solar panels must be elevated in that way the heat dissipates and they don't overheat, please make sure they are not to high they can fly away with the wind speed.
How many solar panels do I need?
It depends about your energy demand and the power output size. (50W, 100W, 160W, 350W…)
What kind of batteries? AGM, Deep Cycle, Gel, Lithium
The top of solar batteries are sealed lead acid batteries, liquid vented lead acid batteries, gel cell batteries, alkaline batteries for low temperatures, nickel cadmium and nickel iron batteries, 4S 12.8V lithium iron phosphate LiFePO4 batteries.
Compared with traditional batteries, Cutting Edge Power lithium ion batteries charge faster, last longer, have a higher power density (more battery life) and are lighter. They have proven to be superior against lead acid, NiCd, AND lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries for wind and solar applications.
What kind of solar controller? PWM or MPPT
MPPT charge controllers are better. Charge controllers or regulators protect your batteries from being overcharged by your solar panel systems in your RV.
How to mount the panels to the roof?
It depends on what type of panels you have (rigid or flexible).
The most common RV roof type is rubber, so the best way to mount solar panels to this type of roof is to screw them in with lag bolts.
You will need mounting brackets to attach to the glass solar panels, and then you will screw them directly into your roof. Once they are screwed in, you will want to cover each hole with our cable wire entry housing. The simplest solar panel mounting hardware is known as a Z-bracket
What kind of solar gadgets are used for mounting RV solar panels?
The solar gadgets are:
- Solar Panel Weatherproof Cable Wire Entry Housing
- USB Adapter Charge Controller
- USB QUICK CHARGE Adapter
- Solar Disconnect, 12 / 24 / 36 / 48 V DC Shut off
- Splitters
We have designed solar generators with high capacity and special features for RV’s like NEMA adapters. (Remember they are for 120V NOT 240V)
Our Whole Home Solar Backup Generator, 12V DC to 240 AC 120 AC is all you need for you RV.
