BASIC SOLAR SYSTEM SET UP

This is how Cutting Edge Power recommends to set up a basic solar system.
Check list:
The Solar panel, charge controller, battery, inverter, and wiring connection.
SET UP:
Follow these 3 easy steps:
-
The battery should be hooked up to the charge controller first. Otherwise, the charge controller can be damaged. Make sure to follow NEC guidelines regarding wire sizes (See the table at the end for details.) Make sure that you lead the wire into the battery terminal of the charge controller and match the + and – to the battery + and -. We recommend using wire ferrules
when connecting solar charge controllers. They make better electrical contact and they also help prevent the wires from pulling out.
Note: The red wire is positive (+) and the black wire is negative (-).
- Connect your solar panel to your charge controller. Make sure the adapter kit to your panel is connected, then connect the + or – sign coming off the leads of the panels and match it with the + and – sign on the charge controller.
Note: Insert the female connector into the male
connector.
- Hook up your inverter to your battery. Remember + to + and – to –.
It’s always a good idea to use fuses between the solar panels and the charge controller. Check out our website for more safe products to connect to your solar panels.
